Dampak Covid-19 terhadap layanan operasi katarak di pulau Kangean, Indonesia: Studi oftalmik berbasis komunitas

Katarak merupakan penyebab utama kebutaan, terutama pada populasi lanjut usia, dengan prevalensi tinggi di wilayah terpencil seperti Pulau Kangean, Indonesia. Pandemi COVID-19 menyebabkan disrupsi besar pada layanan kesehatan, termasuk operasi katarak, yang berdampak pada meningkatnya backlog pasien. Penelitian ini mengkaji dampak pandemi terhadap layanan operasi katarak di Pulau Kangean. Sebanyak 56 operasi berhasil dilakukan dari total 200 pasien yang memerlukan intervensi segera, menggunakan dua metode utama, yaitu Phaco (Phacoemulsification) dan mSICS (Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery). Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder, yaitu data yang diambil dari sumber yang telah ada sebelumnya, meliputi sensus penduduk terkait penyakit katarak dan hasil skrining kesehatan mata yang fokus pada deteksi dan penanganan katarak. Hasil visus menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan, di mana 76,79% pasien mencapai kategori visus "Good". Mayoritas pasien berasal dari kelompok usia lanjut (50–80 tahun), mencerminkan tingginya prevalensi katarak pada populasi ini. Temuan ini menyoroti pentingnya program kesehatan mata yang berkelanjutan selama krisis kesehatan global untuk meningkatkan akses layanan kesehatan mata di wilayah terpencil.
